Backpacks
and School Furniture - Threats to Our Children’s Wellbeing
by Robert Rickove

About fifteen years ago I
read a book by Alice Miller, For Your Own
Good: Hidden cruelty in Child-Rearing and the Roots of Violence,
a book
that left a lasting impression on me. Miller was a psychoanalyst
who,
after twenty years of practicing psychoanalysis came to
the realization
that she could do more good by writing about the parent-child
relationship for the general public.

THE
ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE - TAKING THE PRESSURE OFF YOUR BODY
by Robert Rickove
|
13.02.2008 |
“Stand
up straight!” “Pull your shoulders back!”
As children, we were
told to have good posture. Yet we were seldom taught effective
ways to
accomplish this. Indeed, we were often not even told just
what “good
posture” is.
The
consequences of this information gap can be seen all around
us:
stiff necks, shoulders hunched forward or pulled tightly
back,
restricted breathing, and tightness in the thighs, legs
and ankles.
Backaches, headaches, and other painful symptoms are often
the
unfortunate result.

Why
Hypnotists Should Know the History of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy
Calvin D. Banyan, MA, CI, BCH
The other day I was reading an email to a hypnosis interest
group on one of the Web portals. In it a student of a particular
hypnosis teacher went on and on about how his teacher taught
several well-known hypnosis instructors. Then he went on
to say how those guys were just re-packaging his teacher's

The
origins of zen shiatsu is in Oriental medicine, but it was
adapted to the Japanese environment.
All
types of shiatsu stimulate blood circulation directly, like
western style massage such as Swedish. In doing so, both
of these systems help release poorly flowing blood in the
skin and muscles, and hence help ease tension and.........

another. Here in Japan health treatments such as acupuncture,
bone setting or Chinese herbal medicines are widely accepted
as a treatment choice yet something like Reiki, born in
Japan and popular in the West, has been greeted..... |

Vera Myth or Medicine?
by Dr Peter Atherton M.B.Ch.B., D.Obst. R.C.O.G.,
M.R.C.G.P.
|
27.06.2006 |
It
was about three years ago, whilst I was a full time General
Practitioner, a job that I had been doing both at home and
abroad for twenty eight years, that I came across Aloe Vera.
I had vaguely heard of it as an addition to various cosmetic
products, but I was completely ignorant of its origin and
unconcerned about its actions. I was certainly unaware of
its fabled medicinal properties and as a strictly conventional
physician I had no interest in any form of complementary
or alternative medicine. In fact....... |
